Contemplating the Cross

Updated: May 8, 2022

Psalm 19:14, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

These days, as a new wife and mother I have been thinking about the need for Jesus Christ in my life more than ever. All the challenges coming up with this new role drew me closer to God's heart. Throughout all this time, I realized He has always been there for me, waiting to forsake my daily routines for a second, and just kneel before His throne in meekness and sincerity. The Lord expected me to surrender every thought to Him, and so He convicted me about the answers I was seeking around so many places, but Him. Then, I thought:

Anytime I fail, I am reminded of the Cross at Calvary... And it makes me wonder in my limited mind how a sinless, innocent Man (100% man 100% God) offered Himself a Living sacrifice as a gift for the propitiation for my sins so I get eternal life in Heaven. That is the greatest SELFLESS love in the whole history of humankind. ("Behold, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.") Let alone my sins only that were a terrible burden for Him, but He took upon Him the sin of the whole world. For any bad, wicked thought I had, He chose to wear a crown of thorns upon His head, for any step I took further away from Him, He chose to have His feet pierced, for every sin committed with my hands, He chose to suffer his hands pierced on the Cross, for every fallen feeling, any action I took, or emotion, He had His side pierced with a spear. In my walk as a Christian, I realize that people go beyond the simplicity of the Gospel. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness. The sacrifice was done ONCE AND FOR ALL. He cried out, "It is finished". One of the most powerful words in human history. If Jesus had not fulfilled what was required and pleased God (the Infinite payment that only God Himself could ever make), we would have all perished eternally in the lake of fire and brimstone, where all the unsaved go if they do not repent sincerely. Not only so, but Jesus Christ, Who was crucified, lives forever and ever. He died, he was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) conquering sin and death. If we truly believe, acknowledging that we have sinned and come short of the glory of God (no matter how moral we are), we have eternal life. That is TRUE repentance. It starts with the heart (the parable of the soil and the seed). "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." "God is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Remember: He chose to follow the hard path for me and for you. He chose to die for us when we have given Him nothing in return. This world is so fallen.

The Innocent God, Sinless, manifest in the flesh, chose to die for me. WHAT A GREAT JOY! ALL GLORY TO GOD!

The greatest act in human history is the pure and sincere LOVE of God for us, and nothing can ever come close to that.

We are all sinners saved by grace through faith... What a marvelous gift. Today I am reminded of the greatest gift I have ever received: the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord. No one has ever loved me as much as God, and no one will ever do that. I love my spouse, my family, and my brethren, but I am limited. God LOVES UNCONDITIONALLY!

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
