"Covenant?! What is a covenant?", you might ask yourself. First things first. A covenant is a promised agreement between two parties so that they both live in harmony. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary 1828, the covenant is defined as "a usually formal, solemn, and binding agreement", and "a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties, especially for the performance of some action".

God revealed Himself in the word He established for humanity as a pair of eyeglasses which help us correct our erroneous spiritual visions and perceptions we have about life. Also, in the Bible the historical records are presented to man from the beginning of the world up to the final day of judgment, following the ancestral lineage of Jesus Christ, continuing with His teachings and ministry. God is both covenant-making and covenant-keeping with regard to His law set forth to redeem and reestablish the Earth in its initial state,

Psalm 25:10, All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

The Bible itself used to be known as “The Book of the Covenant”, taking into account when the first book written by Moses appeared in Mount Sinai, where The Almighty promised people to be their God if they kept His Covenant.

Exodus 24:7, And he took the Book of the Covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.

The Bible is divided into two parts: The Old and New Testament “(from the Greek word “diatheke” is translated testament or covenant).” - Hills. These two parts go back to Apostle Paul, who was the first to divide the Bible into two sections.

The first section is called The Old Testament due to the Covenant of Works which God established between Him and men, and the ten commandments are the result of the broken Covenant of Works from Genesis, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s order. Thus, the ten commandments are the pure proof that men could not save themselves by their own works, but by obeying God’s rules.

Leviticus 18:5, Ye shall therefore keep My statutes, and My judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

The New Testament has this name due to the prophecy of Jeremiah, Daniel, Isaiah, etc. who foresaw the coming of Jesus Christ to save and pay the full price for our sins. This covenant is new due to the Gospel of Grace – the faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It became valid only when Jesus Christ gave up the ghost on the Calvary Cross.

Luke 22:20, This cup is the New Testament in My blood, which is shed for you.

The connection between the Old and New Testament is made through the anticipation of the Covenant of Grace, when God promised Abraham the seeds of a world, but one bearing the Redeemer – Jesus Christ,

Galatians 3:16, Now to Abraham and to his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

The racial disputes, and controversies of the Bible are dangerous, causing confusion in the heart of the believer. By believing the Gospel of Grace people “are united to Him by the Holy Spirit, then they are the spiritual children of Abraham.” - Hills.

The unbelieving Gentiles along with the unbelieving Jews are breaking the Covenant of Grace, subjecting themselves to eternal damnation. Both Jews and Gentiles must believe the Gospel and have faith in Jesus Christ in order to be eternally secured in Glory.

It is important that we know how God deals with people and what His expectations are. So, guys, when we become a member of the church (the body of Christ), we are sealed unto the day of redemption and dwell FOREVER with the Lord. (Ephesians 4:30)

God's love be with you all,

Denisa
