The godly wife – the image of Christ's bride

Hey, darlings. Today I want to be talking about a subject which might be at your best interest (I guess). Why do I say this? Well, because we, women, can be very sensitive and emotional at times.

I suppose every one of us has dreamed at least once in her lifetime to become a wife, mother, to be virtuous, remarkable, respectful, meek, et al. Yet, what about the blessing of being a bride, all dressed in white, shinning of much content, pure happiness? I guess some of you has already been at this stage, or you might be close to becoming a blessed bride, who knows?

Dear woman, before we dig in deeper into the subject, I want you to know something: if you are godly, or if you strive to grow each day in the Lord, know that you are not only a precious gem in the hands of the Lord, but you are the IMAGE OF THE BRIDE OF CHRIST – the CHURCH.

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present [you as] a chaste virgin to Christ.

Revelation 18:7-9 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Ephesians 5:29-30, For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

The Bible describes the godly wife as being in submission, quiet, loving.

Ephesians 2:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

We'll be focusing on a great instance in the Old Testament that I believe is the perfect example for the image of the godly woman in the home.

We know there are many commonly thought women to be great throughout the Bible, like Sarah, Esther, Ruth, and Mary, but only one is called by the Lord a "great woman", and she is sadly overlooked. In II Kings 4:8-37 this woman can be found. As the story unfolds, there are certain, fine examples for the Christian women of today. Ladies, take note of these examples and ask God where they need to be applied in your lives:

She practised the Golden Rule, derived from Matthew 7:12, which a good reproduction would be "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." Unlike many modern women, she offered to help the man of God and his ministry without being told by anyone;

She was Spiritually Minded

Her first comment about the prophet was "this is a holy man". She didn't say "This is a religious fanatic." Christian lady, what is your attitude toward the preachers and other dedicated Christians?

She didn't yield to worldly temptations

She was a godly woman who sought to please God, not the world. How many ladies turn their backs on God, on families and become women of the world... How many "hunger" for popularity on social media, to please the world and get recognition? (I was deceived, too, first). LADIES, DO NOT TRY TO BE LIKE OTHERS, or TO LOOK LIKE OTHERS. Jesus teaches humility.

She was a woman of faith

She had the power to still hope in God in spite of the challenges she was facing, including seeing the death of her son.

She was emotionally strong

She had a desperate situation on her hands, yet she kept the matter to herself, she just spoke with the man of God. Most women today carry their problems to their various friends and family members, and they never find any real help. "A great woman will not chat carelessly about her troubles. She will take such matters to God and maybe to a godly person or two who can actually offer some help." - James L. Melton.

Do not be a loose-lipped woman; a strong woman controls her tongue.

She was thankful

Do you thank God for the blessings in your life? Are you thrilled to walk with the Lord?

God has a plan for your life. You can, too, be great in the sight of God when you follow His word.

Don't feel ashamed of the areas where you think you might have to work on, just trust and obey the word of God, and the Lord will take care of everything. He is our Helper, ladies!

With God in my heart,

Denisa
